Riding on an Ass

Thus says the Lord: Rejoice heartily, O daughter Zion,

shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem!

See, your king shall come to you; a just savior is He, meek,

and riding on an ass, on a colt, the foal of an ass.

ZECHARIAH 9 : 9

Jesus found an ass and sat upon it, as it is written: "Fear no more, O daughter of Zion: see, your king comes, seated upon an ass's colt." - John 12:14-15

On the next day, when the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, they took palm branches and went out to meet him, and cried out: "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, [even] the king of Israel." - John 12:12-13

His disciples did not understand this at first, but when Jesus had been glorified they remembered that these things were written about him and that they had done this for him. - John 12:16

Mission

Thus says the Lord: Write all the words I have spoken to you in a book. - Jeremiah 30:2

Write down the vision clearly so that one can read it readily. For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; if it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late. - Habakkuk 2:2-3

Attend to the reading, exhortation, and teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands. - 1 Timothy 4:13-14

Let this be written for the generation to come, and let His future creatures praise the Lord. - Psalm 102:19

And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true, and the Lord, the God of prophetic spirits, sent his angel to show his servants what must happen soon.” “Behold, I am coming soon.” Blessed is the one who keeps the prophetic message of this book. - Revelation 22:6-7

Vision

From of old, the prophets who were before you and me prophesied war, woe, and pestilence against many lands and mighty kingdoms. But the prophet who prophesies peace is recognized as truly sent by the Lord only when his prophetic prediction is fulfilled. - Jeremiah 28:8-9

Then the voice which I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, "Go, take the scroll which is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land."

So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little scroll; and he said to me, "Take it and eat; it will be bitter to your stomach, but sweet as honey in your mouth."

And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it; it was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.

And I was told, "You must again prophesy about many peoples and nations and tongues and kings." - Revelation 10: 8 - 11

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants what must soon take place (Revelation 1:1).

He says: "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth" (Isaiah 49:6).

So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ. But I ask, have they not heard (Romans 10:17)?

Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world" (Romans 10:18).

Behold, I send my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts (Malachi 3:1).

FULFILLMENT

This is he of whom it is written, `Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee' (Matthew 11:10).

And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, "Tell no one the vision, until the Son of man is raised from the dead."

And the disciples asked him, "Then why do the scribes say that first Eli'jah must come?"

He replied, "Eli'jah does come, and he is to restore all things; but I tell you that Eli'jah has already come, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of man will suffer at their hands."

Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist (Matthew 17: 9, 10 - 13).

Prophecy of "The Cross"

These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands which stand before the Lord of the earth. And if any one would harm them, fire pours out from their mouth and consumes their foes; if any one would harm them, thus he is doomed to be killed. They have power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they desire. And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will make war upon them and conquer them and kill them, and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is allegorically called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. For three days and a half men from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up hither!" And in the sight of their foes they went up to heaven in a cloud. -- Revelation 11: 4 - 12
